Monique Tippett is the 2019 artist in residence at Parliament House.
Golden State is a celebration of the Western Australian landscape and its material and spiritual abundance. Through the work, the artist seeks to remind the viewer to consider and balance their notions of value. Gold and wealth are fine but these are not true treasure – true treasure is all around us in our unique natural environment.
The work is made with blackbutt, synthetic polymers, ink, charcoals, gold leaf and lacquers on board.
Visitors may view the painting by joining one of the monthly art tours of Parliament House.
The artist in residence program is a collaboration between the Parliament of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University.
Monique Tippett is a local artist based in the Peel Region of Western Australia. Her works explore her relationship with the natural environment of the south west of Western Australia, and specifically the forest landscape. Her works are exhibited in many private and public collections.
