Origin of the Name:
Armadale derives its name from the railway station of Armadale on the Perth to Bunbury line. It was first recorded in timetables published on 15th June 1893. The station was probably named after Armadale in Scotland, which is thought to mean 'the arm of the hills'. Both Armadale village on the Isle of Skye and Armadale village in Sutherland, have hills that jut out into the sea.
