Synopsis

This Bill provides for the registration and regulation of medical practitioners. The Bill implements the recommendations of the Review of the Medical Act 1894 that was provided to the Minster for Health in 2001. The Bill repeals the Medical Act 1894 and replaces it with a modern registration scheme to ensure that only properly qualified and competent persons are registered to practise medicine and to regulate the practice by those persons for the purpose of protecting consumers of health services in Western Australia.

Royal Assent given 27 May 2008 as Act No. 22 of 2008. This Act comes into operation on a day fixed by Proclamation (see Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
