Important Information:

On Thursday, 7 August 2008 the Parliament of Western Australia was prorogued. This had the effect of terminating all the current business of Parliament. Subsequently this inquiry ceased to exist, although is was re-established by the new Committee on Uniform Legislation and Statutes Review on 12 November 2008.

Terms of Reference:

Term of reference 8.3(d) enables the Standing Committee on Uniform Legislation and Statutes Review “to review the form and content of the statute book”. Statutes Repeals and Minor Amendments Bills are a mechanism by which the statute book is reviewed. Accordingly, on November 28 2005, the Committee resolved to inquire into and report on:

(a)	the purpose and nature of Statutes Repeals and Minor Amendments Bills;
(b)	the process for the drafting and enactment of Statutes Repeals and Minor Amendments Bills and, if relevant, the comparative process in other Australian jurisdictions; and
(c)	any related issues the committee considers appropriate.
